TraumaCare 2009

From October 1st until 4th, 2009, international guests from overseas and German emergency physicians will gather in Ulm/Neu-Ulm to take part in the conference TRAUMACARE 2009. The meeting is themed “the way back to life” to discuss the latest developments in the field of traumacare. The conference will not only focus on prehospital care, but will also cover the entire scope of treatment, ranging from emergency care to surgery, intensive care medicine and follow-up treatment. The great variety of logistic and tactical considerations in the field of trauma care is often subject to the existing infrastructure. For this reason, the problems and parameters of medical care in the Western world will be contrasted with those prevailing in developing countries, and the civilian environment with military operations.
In addition to the scheduled scientific sessions and top-level presentations, participants and guests will be provided with an exciting variety of workshops, static displays and live events. The motto ”Let’s discuss your ideas” is designed to create a platform for professional und transnational discussions. The long-established annual meeting of the Bavarian Society of EMS-Physicians is attended by 500 to 700 experts from German-speaking countries every year. For the annual meeting of the ITACCS, an audience of professionals from the entire Anglo-Saxon region (North America, United Kingdom, Australia), from Asia (Japan, India), the Middle East and South America, from Australia and from all European countries is expected. Another 500 to 700 visitors to participate are anticipated. The host of this years’ meeting is the German Armed Forces Hospital in Ulm, which has a long tradition in civilian as well as combat traumacare; in 1971 Germany’s second Helicopter Emergency Medical Service was established at this hospital and it is still on daily missions.
