The Scientific Committee has designed a high-quality program, offering the participants multiple options to exchange new information. Three plenary sessions and eleven parallel sessions have been scheduled, covering topics such as “ Strategies and Concepts of Biodefense”, “New Vaccines and Therapeutics”, “Modern Technologies in Detection and Diagnosis”, “Update on Orthopox Virus Research”, “Management and Containment of Highly Infectious Diseases”, and others. Moreover, at a satellite symposium organized by the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy, the audience will be informed about the German-Mongolian research collaboration on infectious diseases with natural foci, such as plague, tick-borne encephalitis and brucellosis. And even a tabletop exercise on planning, response and containment strategies in a respiratory outbreak will be offered.

About ninety oral presentations and 70 poster presentations testify to the great international scientific interest in this conference, which is underscored by the participation of 300 people from around the globe. Furthermore, a number of international top researchers will present invited keynote lectures on the latest-breaking science news in the field of biodefense.
For the first time, this conference will be accompanied by an industrial exhibition, where the latest biodefense products and technologies related to disease diagnosis, prevention as well as protection will be presented. The exhibition is organized by our collaboration partner, the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy, who will also invite the attendees to a welcoming reception and a social event at Weihenstephan, the world´s oldest brewery.
In a nutshell, there are plenty of good reasons to believe that the program will help both military and civilian participants to boost their knowledge in the ever-evolving field of biodefense.
