Dear Reader

It is a great honour to take over as Editor -in-Chief of Medical Corps International Forum I
very much look forward to this interesting and responsible role.
One of my main objectives is to maintain the high level of expertise our readers have come to
expect, with a particular focus on international partnership. Furthermore, a key element of my
remit will be broadening the range of issues covered in MCIF.
General budget restrictions and cuts in personnel resources increasingly call for international
cooperation among military health services in research, traning, deployment and its planning.
This requires potential partners in the international arena to be mutually aware of each others
capabilities. MCIF will continue to showcase structure and achivement of indivudual health
services thus remaining true to the founding principle of the publication: to serve as a platform
for international exchange and mutual understanding.
Key medical issues that will help to provide the necessary information to people on deployments
will remain a chief focus. Let me therefore encourage you to send us relevant articles for publication.
Your experience and expertise are essential for optimising the quality of medical care.
